June

Posted in Blog, Travel

The past month I didn’t even blog at Happy Hour with a Housewife (HHWAH), so I thought I’d give you guys a little update of what we’ve been up to. June was a really busy month for us!

We started out the month taking a little trip out to Arizona to see our best friends, it was a last minute plan and it was so great seeing them especially since Matt starts up the police academy at the end of the month and it will be even harder to see them.  We really didn’t do much… just enjoyed spending some time together, ate some good meals, and talked a lot about Reese Michelle. That’s their sweet baby girl due in November and I just can’t wait.

As soon as I got back from Arizona I started really researching more into Vintage Couture and learning more about the company.  I have a friend who does direct sales with them and couldn’t say better things about it so after a quick talk over with the husband I jumped in and have loved it ever since I started. They is seriously an amazing group of woman behind this company.  Here is some of their spring/summer collection and if you want to check out more of their clothing you can do so HERE. Little tip for ya if you’re interested – sizes are going FAST since everything is 50% off. Fall/Holiday line debuts in just a month!

Brad’s birthday was on the 26th and we celebrated here by just going out to dinner, nothing special because his big celebration was what we do every year – an annual trip to Las Vegas!  I booked our room this year through Snique Away (if you don’t get their emails, join now!), they seriously have the most luxurious hotels at the best prices. For a weekend stay we got a strip view suite (1150 square feet!) for $79 a night. You can’t get that anywhere else. I had never heard much of the Platinum Resort and Spa so I did some researching before book and when I saw Trip Advisor had it as the #3 hotel in Las Vegas I couldn’t pass it up. Seriously, the place was AMAZING.

I squeeled about 1150 square feet because our townhome is currently only a little over 1100 square feet. The kitchen was seriously more spacious then our current kitchen. Not to mention the huge double vanity bathroom with a jetted tub and large rain shower. It was awesome.  There wasn’t a casino in the hotel but I didn’t miss it really at all, we spent most of our time out at different casinos we were fine without it. We did really enjoy happy hour at our hotel in the lounge as well as their great pool!

We ate at an amazing restaurant for the Hubs birthday, it’s on the 64th floor of Mandalay Bay’s The Hotel. It’s called Mix and the view you get is like no other. A little over priced but we did have a gift certificate and the view made it worth it. We though we would only come again to go enjoy the lounge and view with a cocktail.

My in-laws also joined us which was a lot of fun.  Other then that we just hung out a lot at the pool, drank a lot, and gambled. By far the highlight of the weekend for me though was seeing the Cirque du Soleil show, LOVE. Oh. my. gosh. If you are ever going to see a show in Vegas this is the one – and you don’t have to be a huge Beatle’s fan to enjoy it.

The weekend right after Vegas was a trip up the coast to Cambria, California. This was a gift from our Anniversary back in April and it was a packaged deal that we couldn’t pass up.  Both of our parents joined us too and it was so much fun. With our package we not only got our hotel for suite for two nights, it included free dinner at the restaurant, a bottle of wine, and wine tasting at six local wineries.  One of the high lights of the weekend was definitely checking out the elephant seals up past Hearst Castle.

Since then we have been BURNT OUT. So we tried to just kinda keep it low and local which we have done — the only thing is we’ve kinda taken on a big project.  We are in the process of getting a kitchen remodel! I know that’s not what someone should be saying that is in the process of paying off their debt but you have to hear me out, I’ll explain in an upcoming post when I share with you some more of those details.
